Cercospora
Fungicide Efficacy Trial
All
treatments reduced the disease equally, including the use of Bac J used preventatively. This use was based on recent research showing that
the mode of action for this bacteria is induction of systemic resistance genes in the
sugarbeet plant so that it defends itself against the Cercospora leaf spot pathogen. Several treatments significantly increased percent
sugar even though there was no significant increase in sucrose yield per acre. This would have been anticipated based on the
AUDPC information showing very low disease intensity.
